Yet another song about the state of things from my particular point of view… I didn’t realize it until after I wrote it, but it’s inspired by William Blake’s poem, Auguries of Innocence.
“To see a world in a grain of sand/ And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,/ And eternity in an hour.
A robin redbreast in a cage/ Puts all heaven in a rage.
A dove-house fill’d with doves and pigeons/ Shudders hell thro’ all its regions.
A dog starv’d at his master’s gate/ Predicts the ruin of the state.”
You get the idea. Stop time and look around. If things seem constricting, controlling, dominating, exploiting…heartless…it tells you that something is out of balance. Something needs to change.
What will it take for you to stand up?To see the truth for where it lies.First they make you blindAnd then they get you right between the eyesParalyzed
You can’t tell me what you’re feelingYou’re numbed with poison for the painCuz everywhere you turnIt’s killing all the life it can’t containThe bought remain
There must be an answer in the places we forgot.I’ll look inside this cherry blossom
All the beauty that surrounds usThe things our eyes will never seeSomewhere we got lostAnd now this ship has sailed and out to seaWhat will be...
